The Babies Home

The Babies' Home is a happy, safe and warm environment where your child will feel stimulated, secured and loved.

The Babies Home is quite simply, home from home; with the chance for friendly play in a conservatory, dig in the sand pit or chance to cuddle up in the cozy corner for a story. Cherryfield , indeed offers a real sense of family, fun and friendship.

CHILDREN : 18 MONTHS TO 5 YEARS

The children follow a seamless transition during their time in our Early Years. From their first moments in the Toddler Room right through to the end of Reception age, they experience consistency in their care, their environment and in their learning.

With dedicated zones for the younger children leading to more specific materials designed to enhance the older pupil’s learning, the Children’s House is a gentle buzz of purposeful activity and concentration. The key principles underpinning the Montessori ethos and pedagogy are taught within the context of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The cornerstones of learning, reading, writing and mathematics are taught using Montessori methods and materials. Our vertical grouping age range within the Children's House means that it forms a mini community. Our older children embrace new challenges whilst reinforcing their learning, acting as role models for the younger ones.

PRIMARY

Our Primary learners follow a rich, creative curriculum with specialise lessons in PE, Modern Languages, Art and Culture.

The learners build on their journey from the Early Years and use the Montessori materials to consolidate and extend their skills in mathematics, reading and writing. Their interest and imagination is stimulated through the ‘Great Lessons’ that introduce them to a world outside of their own environment and nurtures a sense of global vision.

JUNIOR HIGH

The Junior High School offers a three-year holistic course with well-seasoned facilitators. Our pass rate in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) is second to none.

The JHS department has an enviable record of exceling in competitions. Notable among them is Mezzo Maths Quiz Competition, BSTEM Quiz, Spelling B, Sena Foundation, Blooming Minds Young Writers, just to mention a few. In addition, the Junior High School Division initiated steps to improving our subjects by including practically oriented terminal examinations for our students. This equips learners with practical skills, to face the current demands of the world.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

We have variety of co– curricular club activities that run throughout the term; encouraging our learners to explore a variety of different skills and hobbies.

Extracurriculars allows children to pursue their current interests and passions and perhaps even find ones they didn’t know they had. Thus, our clubs are a mix of activities that they are familiar with and ones that may be out of their comfort zone. We want to see that our students are well-rounded and are able to handle multiple responsibilities, and extracurricular involvement is a sure sign of both.

CURRICULUM

CMS follows the Ghana Education Service Curricular with a blend of Maria Montessori pedagogy.

Nurturing children’s creative thinking skills through play-based learning; builds their self- confidence and encourages them to become inquisitive, independent and self – motivated learners. Reading is taught phonetically and many of our children at the age of three are reading simple books and forming good sentences. Emphasis is laid on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). With this, your child is assured with the skills to invent in the future. Other areas of concentrations are; Problem solving, Group work and critical thinking.

OPEN DAY

Periodic open days are organised for each department of the school.
This gives opportunity to parents and guardians to interact with their wards’ teachers on one on one level.
